React web apps vs Flutter: Leanfinit vs Lovable compared
React web apps vs Flutter: what Lovable's React stack and backend mean for cost, security and phones, and why Leanfinit's free Flutter apps are simpler.
Disclosure: OwnlyReal and Leanfinit share founders.
Lovable builds React web apps with a cloud backend attached; Leanfinit builds Flutter apps with no servers for you to run. Lovable is the bigger name, but for a personal or small-business app, Leanfinit is the better choice: less to manage, no servers to run, and it is completely free during the beta.
Lovable's React stack comes with Lovable Cloud, a credit meter and web-only output. Leanfinit builds with Flutter, needs no servers, databases or hosting, and is free during the beta – no credit card, no watermark.

02What Lovable builds: React on the web, with a server attached
Lovable is a web-app builder with one fixed stack. Since May 13, 2026, new projects use TanStack Start with server rendering, older ones use React + Vite, and there is no choice of framework or database (Lovable FAQ). Apps publish to a lovable.app subdomain, with custom domains on paid plans (Lovable FAQ).
The backend is Lovable Cloud: Postgres, auth, storage, edge functions and AI, built on Supabase's open-source stack (Lovable Cloud). You can use your own Supabase project instead, but moving between the two is not supported.
03What Leanfinit builds: a Flutter app with no servers to run
Leanfinit builds apps with Flutter, and there is no backend for you to configure. Flutter draws its own widgets with its own engine and compiles to JavaScript or WebAssembly for the web (Flutter FAQ, Flutter architecture). On Leanfinit you describe the app, edit by describing changes and publish to the web with one Publish button.
The homepage sums it up: "Type it. It's an app. No servers. Still works." If data is your main worry, Leanfinit answers whether your data is safe in an AI app builder in plain terms.
04Security: what a React app with a backend can expose
Every generated backend is something that can be misconfigured. CVE-2025-48757, rated CVSS 9.3, described missing Supabase row-level security in Lovable-generated apps that let unauthenticated attackers read or write tables; about 170 apps were affected, and Lovable disputed the classification (Intruder CVE record, Cybersecurity News).
In a separate incident, a regression made chat history and source code of public Lovable projects readable by logged-in users from February 3 to April 20, 2026; Lovable fixed it and made all historical public projects private (Lovable). Neither issue is about React itself – both come from the server and project layer around it.
The risk sits in the backend a React builder generates for you. Leanfinit has no servers or databases for you to set up, so there are no database access rules for you to configure.
05Leanfinit vs Lovable on price
Lovable meters every build; Leanfinit does not. As of October 2026, Lovable Free gives 5 daily credits capped at 30 a month, with no code download and the Lovable badge (Lovable plans). Pro costs $25 a month for 100 credits plus 5 daily, Business costs $50, and Pro top-ups are $15 per 50 credits (Lovable plans, Lovable credits).
On Trustpilot (4.2/5, 1,767 reviews), negative Lovable reviews mention fast credit use, unexpected currency and duplicate charges, and credit limits blocking larger projects (source).
Leanfinit has no paid plans during the beta: no credit card, no watermark, and code export is available. For a full cost walk-through, see Leanfinit vs Lovable.
06Phones: Lovable's PWA advice vs Leanfinit's mobile app
Lovable says outright that it does not generate React Native projects. For mobile it suggests a PWA or wrapping the published URL with Capacitor outside Lovable (Lovable FAQ). Its own iOS and Android app, launched May 1, 2026, is for building and managing projects, not for making native apps (ecommercenews).
Leanfinit's published web apps open in a phone's browser today. The Leanfinit mobile app is in development and will generate offline apps that run on your device, with data staying on the phone. Flutter itself officially targets iOS and Android as well as the web (Flutter 3 announcement).
07Why we'd pick Leanfinit for a personal budget planner
For money tracking, "no servers" is a reassuring default. On Lovable, a budget planner becomes a React app with a Lovable Cloud database, a badge on the free plan and a credit balance that shrinks as you fix things. On Leanfinit, you describe your categories and monthly limits and get a working app you can keep changing for free during the beta.
Ask for one screen that answers your main question, such as "how much is left this month", before adding charts or history. Leanfinit's guide to the best no-code app builder for personal use has more personal-app ideas.

Lovable is a market leader, with a $500M annualized run-rate as of June 2026 (TechCrunch), but you inherit its backend, its meter and its web-only output. For a personal or small-business app, Leanfinit is the better choice: Flutter-built, no servers to run, and completely free during the beta.
FAQ
Does Lovable use React or Flutter?
React. New projects use TanStack Start; older ones use React + Vite. Lovable does not offer Flutter or React Native.
Is a Flutter app safer than a React app?
In our view, the framework is rarely the issue; the backend is. Lovable's reported issues involved database rules and project visibility, while Leanfinit has no servers or databases for you to configure.
Can I move a Lovable app to my own backend?
You can connect your own Supabase project, but Lovable says migration between Lovable Cloud and your own Supabase is not supported.
Is Leanfinit free like Lovable's free plan?
More than that: Leanfinit is completely free during the beta, with no paid plans, no credit card and no watermark.
