Leanfinit vs Lovable on AI app security: the facts
Leanfinit vs Lovable on security: Lovable's 2025 CVE and 2026 exposure, what each asks you to configure, and why Leanfinit is free during the beta.
Disclosure: OwnlyReal and Leanfinit share founders.
Lovable has two documented security events on record: a 2025 CVE about missing database access rules in generated apps, and a 2026 regression that exposed public projects' code and chat history. Leanfinit takes a different route – no servers or databases for you to set up – and it is completely free during the beta. For a personal app, we'd start with Leanfinit.
On security, the short answer is that Leanfinit asks you to configure less: there are no servers, databases or hosting for you to set up, and it's free during the beta. Lovable is the larger platform, but its record includes a 2025 CVE and a 2026 data exposure.
01The comparison at a glance
| Builder | Backend you work with | Security events in our sources | Free plan (as of October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leanfinit | None to set up: no servers, databases or hosting | None found | Completely free during the beta, no credit card |
| Lovable | Lovable Cloud (Postgres, auth, storage on Supabase's stack) or your own Supabase (docs) | CVE-2025-48757, CVSS 9.3; Feb–Apr 2026 public-project exposure | 5 daily credits, capped at 30/month (docs) |
| Replit | Built-in PostgreSQL managed by Replit (docs) | July 2025: agent deleted a user's production database, per press reports (eWeek) | Daily Agent credits; 1 app that expires after 30 days (docs) |
| Bolt.new | Bolt Cloud databases or Supabase (docs) | None found | 300K tokens/day, 1M/month (pricing) |
| v0 | One-click Upstash, Neon, Supabase, Vercel Blob (docs) | None found | 7 messages/day (pricing) |
| Base44 | Built-in backend, database and auth (pricing) | None found | 25 message credits/month (pricing) |
| Cursor | None built in; you bring your own | None found | Hobby, with limited Agent requests (pricing) |
"None found" means none in the sources we checked for this article, not a clean bill of health.
02What happened at Lovable, in order
The first event was a CVE in generated apps. CVE-2025-48757, scored 9.3 on the CVSS scale, describes missing or insufficient Supabase row-level security in apps Lovable generated. That gap let unauthenticated attackers read or write database tables, and about 170 apps were affected (Intruder CVE record; Cybersecurity News). Lovable disputed the classification.
The second event was in Lovable's own platform. By Lovable's account, a regression made the chat history and source code of public projects accessible to logged-in users from February 3 to April 20, 2026. Lovable fixed it and made all historical public projects private (Lovable's incident post).
One event sat in the access rules of generated apps; the other sat in Lovable's own infrastructure. Anyone building on a hosted builder relies on both: the app's own rules and the platform underneath.
03Leanfinit vs Lovable: who writes the access rules
On Lovable, every app with data has a database behind it. Lovable Cloud runs on Supabase's open-source stack, and you can connect your own Supabase project instead, though migrating between the two is not supported (Lovable Cloud docs). Row-level security rules on that database decide who can read which rows, and the CVE above was about those rules being missing or too weak.
Leanfinit has no database for you to set up, so there is no access policy for you to write, review or forget. You describe the app in plain words, get a working app in seconds, edit it by describing changes, and publish it to the web with one Publish button. Its homepage puts it simply: "No servers. Still works."
We want to be precise here. We have not audited Leanfinit's security, and this is not a claim that it is immune to bugs; no builder is. The difference we can state is narrower: the specific job that went wrong in CVE-2025-48757 is not a job Leanfinit hands to you.
G2 reviewers say Lovable can lose context on larger projects, bring back bugs that were already fixed, and change unrelated areas during small edits (G2). In our view, that pattern deserves extra care when the code being changed is the code that guards your data.
04What Lovable gives you to manage risk
Lovable does offer controls, mostly on higher tiers. The Free plan allows private projects, which matters given that the 2026 exposure affected public ones. Pro costs $25/month, while the Business plan, $50/month or $500/year as of October 2026, adds SSO and role-based access, and Enterprise adds audit logs (Lovable plans).
Those features suit a company rolling Lovable out to staff. For one person building a reading log or a client order tracker, they mostly mean more settings to understand and a bill to pay.
Before you describe your app, decide which details you'd actually put in it. Then read Leanfinit's explainer on whether your data is safe in an AI app builder and keep sensitive notes out of anything you publish to the web.
05Where Leanfinit is heading on data
Today, Leanfinit is a web service in beta. Your app is published to the web, and the claims in this article apply to that version only.
The Leanfinit mobile app is in development, not yet available. It will generate offline apps that run on your device, with data staying on the phone. Until it ships, treat on-device storage as a roadmap item, not a feature you can rely on.
06Why we'd pick Leanfinit for a personal app
Less setup, no bill and a clear exit. Leanfinit is completely free during the beta: no paid plans, no credit card and no watermark. There is no database to configure, and code export means you can keep a copy of what you built.
Lovable remains the bigger name, and it published its own account of the 2026 incident. But for a habit tracker or a budget planner that only you use, we see no reason to take on a backend, a policy layer and a credit meter. For the wider picture, see our Leanfinit vs Lovable comparison and our look at credit burn across Lovable and Bolt.new.
Lovable's record includes a 9.3-rated CVE and a February-to-April 2026 exposure of public projects. Leanfinit removes the database setup that the CVE centered on, and costs nothing during the beta. For personal apps, Leanfinit is our recommendation.
FAQ
Was Lovable hacked?
The sources describe two events: CVE-2025-48757, about weak row-level security in about 170 generated apps (Lovable disputed the classification), and a regression that exposed public projects' code and chats to logged-in users from February 3 to April 20, 2026. Lovable says the second is fixed.
Is Leanfinit more secure than Lovable?
We haven't audited either platform. What differs is setup: Leanfinit has no servers or database for you to configure, while Lovable apps run on a Supabase-based backend with access rules.
Does Leanfinit keep my data on my phone?
Not today. Leanfinit is a web service in beta. The mobile app now in development will generate offline apps that keep data on the phone.
Is Leanfinit really free?
Yes. It is completely free during the beta, with no paid plans, no credit card and no watermark.
