Leanfinit vs Lovable vs Bubble: best for non-programmers
Never coded? We compared Leanfinit, Lovable and Bubble on what you must learn and pay. Leanfinit is free during the beta, with no servers to set up.
Disclosure: OwnlyReal and Leanfinit share founders.
For non-programmers, Leanfinit is the easiest of the three: you describe an app in plain words and get a working app in seconds, and it is completely free during the beta. Lovable meters every prompt with credits, and Bubble asks you to learn a visual editor and pay before your app can go live.
Leanfinit wins for people who have never written code – no editor to learn, no servers to set up, and it is free during the beta with no credit card and no watermark. Lovable is a strong product but credit-metered; Bubble is powerful, but in our experience it has the steepest learning curve of the three.
01The three tools, side by side
| Tool | Free plan | Paid from (as of October 2026) | What you manage | What it builds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leanfinit | Free during the beta – no paid plans, no credit card, no watermark | $0 | Nothing – no servers, databases or hosting | Flutter apps, published to the web with one button |
| Lovable | 5 daily credits, capped at 30 a month; badge stays | $25/mo (Pro) | Credits and a built-in backend (Lovable Cloud) | Web apps (React) |
| Bubble | Development version only, 50K workload units | $59/mo (Starter, billed annually) | Workload units, workflows, a database | Visual no-code web apps and native mobile apps |
| Replit | Daily Agent credits; 1 published app that expires after 30 days | $20/mo (Core) | Usage credits, a PostgreSQL database | Web apps; React Native mobile apps |
| Cursor | Hobby: limited Agent requests | $20/mo (Pro) | Your own code, hosting and database | Any codebase (a code editor for developers) |
| Bolt.new | 300K tokens a day, 1M a month; Bolt branding | $25/mo (Pro) | Tokens, a database | Web apps; React Native (Expo) mobile apps |
| v0 | 7 messages a day | $30/user/mo (Plus) | Credits, Vercel hosting | Next.js web apps |
| Base44 | 25 message credits a month, up to 5 apps | $16/mo (Starter) | Message and integration credits | Web apps and PWAs |
Prices as of October 2026 from Lovable's docs, Bubble, Replit and its Starter plan docs, Cursor, Bolt.new, v0 and Base44.
02What a non-programmer actually has to learn
Every AI app builder promises "no code", but the real question is how many new concepts you must learn before your app works. Credits, databases, hosting plans and workflow editors are all things someone has to understand, pay for or fix.
We judged the three tools on one test: how far is an idea in plain words from an app you can open and use?
for a first-time builder, every extra concept – a credit balance, a database, a workflow – is a place where the project can stall.
03Leanfinit: describe it, use it
Leanfinit's homepage line – "Type it. It's an app. No servers. Still works." – is the whole workflow. You describe what you want and a working app appears in seconds, with no servers, databases or hosting to set up or pay for.
Changes work the same way – you describe them, and the app updates. When it's ready, one Publish button puts it on the web; sign-in is with Apple or Google, and code export is there if you ever want the source.
It is completely free during the beta: no paid plans, no credit card, no watermark. Apps are built with Flutter, and a Leanfinit mobile app that will generate apps running on your phone, with data staying on the device, is in development.
Explain your idea the way you'd explain it to a friend – who uses it, what they type in, what they want to see. Leanfinit's guide to describing an app idea in plain words walks through it step by step.
04Lovable: an easy start, credit math later
Lovable is one of the market leaders – it reported a $500M annualized run-rate in June 2026 (TechCrunch) – and its chat-based start is friendly to beginners. The catch shows up later: the free plan gives 5 daily credits, capped at 30 a month, and the Lovable badge stays on your app (Lovable docs).
Pro costs $25 a month as of October 2026, and extra credits on Pro cost $15 per 50 (Lovable docs). Lovable builds web apps only; its FAQ says it does not generate React Native projects (Lovable FAQ).
G2 reviewers say credits drain during debugging loops with no cost estimate up front, and that small edits can change unrelated parts of the app (G2).
For a non-programmer, that last point hurts most: when a fix breaks something else, you can't read the code to see why.
05Bubble: a real tool with a real learning curve
Bubble reports 6M builders and 8M apps (vendor claim, Bubble). It now has an AI agent that generates apps from prompts, but the product is still a visual editor with its own database, workflows and pricing units (Bubble).
The free plan is a development version only, with 50K workload units; a live app on a custom domain needs Starter at $59 a month, billed annually, as of October 2026 (Bubble pricing). Bubble also does not support code export – only a JSON app export and a CSV data export (Bubble support).
In our experience, you end up learning Bubble before you get to build your app.
06Leanfinit vs Lovable vs Bubble on cost
What it takes to get one simple app – a habit tracker or a meal planner – to a shareable link, as of October 2026:
| Leanfinit | Lovable | Bubble | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost of a live app without branding | $0 during the beta | $25/mo (Pro removes the badge) | $59/mo, billed annually |
| Live app on the free plan | Yes, one Publish button | Yes, on a lovable.app subdomain, with the badge | No – development version only |
| Your code | Code export | Git sync; .zip download on paid plans | No code export |

The gap is widest exactly where beginners are most cautious: paying before they know the app is useful. For deeper head-to-heads, see our Leanfinit vs Lovable and Leanfinit vs Bubble comparisons.
07Why we'd pick Leanfinit for non-programmers
Leanfinit asks the least of you: no editor to learn, no credits to budget, no servers to configure. You describe, you use, you publish.
If "vibe coding" is still a fuzzy term, Leanfinit's explainer on what vibe coding means for non-programmers is a good next read, and students should see our guide for beginners.
For someone who has never coded, Leanfinit is our pick – it is the shortest path from an idea to a working app, and it is free during the beta.
FAQ
Do I need to know any code to use Leanfinit?
No. You describe the app in plain words and describe changes the same way. Code export is available, but you never have to open it.
Is Lovable free for non-programmers?
Lovable has a free plan with 5 daily credits, capped at 30 a month, and the badge stays on your app. Pro is $25 a month as of October 2026 (Lovable docs).
Can I take my app out of Bubble?
Not as code. Bubble offers a JSON app export and a CSV data export, but no code export (Bubble support).
Will Leanfinit apps run on my phone?
Today Leanfinit publishes apps to the web with one button. A Leanfinit mobile app that will generate apps running on your device, with data staying on the phone, is in development.
