Leanfinit vs Glide vs Base44 for small business owners
Order trackers, bookings, inventory: we compared Leanfinit, Glide and Base44 for small shops. Leanfinit is free during the beta, with no watermark.
Disclosure: OwnlyReal and Leanfinit share founders.
For small business owners, Leanfinit beats Glide and Base44 on what a small shop watches most: cost and time. Leanfinit is completely free during the beta – no paid plans, no credit card, no watermark – and turns a description into a working app in seconds, while Glide charges to publish and Base44 meters prompts with message credits.
For a salon, a home bakery or a corner shop, Leanfinit is our pick – free during the beta, nothing to host, and a Publish button that works on day one. Glide is built around spreadsheets and paid published apps; Base44 is credit-metered from the first prompt.

02What a small business needs from an app
A shop owner doesn't want "a platform" – they want one job done well: today's orders, who owes what, which stock is running low, who booked the 3 p.m. slot. The app has to be ready before the next customer walks in.
That makes three things decisive: how quickly you get a usable app, what it costs every month, and whether you can publish it without a developer. We scored Glide, Base44 and Leanfinit on exactly those.
03Leanfinit for small business: describe the job, get the app
With Leanfinit you type something like "a client order tracker for my bakery: customer, cake, pickup date, paid or not" and get a working app in seconds. There are no servers, databases or hosting to set up or pay for.
You edit by describing changes ("add a deposit field", "sort by pickup date") and publish to the web with one Publish button. Code export is available, and sign-in is with Apple or Google.
Typical small-business builds: a client order tracker, an inventory tracker, salon booking, a loyalty card and a schedule manager. Leanfinit builds them with Flutter, and a Leanfinit mobile app that will generate apps running on your phone, with data staying on the device, is in development.
If your shop runs on a spreadsheet that's painful on a phone, start by describing the three columns you check most. Leanfinit's piece on when a spreadsheet gets too clunky for a small shop is a good starting point.
04Glide: built on spreadsheets, priced per published app
Glide builds business apps for desktop and mobile from data sources such as Google Sheets, Excel, Airtable and PostgreSQL (Glide). If your data already lives in a sheet, that is its main appeal.
The pricing is the hurdle: as of October 2026, the free plan allows 10 projects but 0 published apps, Basic costs $25 a month for 2 published apps, and Plus costs $50 a month for 5 (Glide pricing). These are "GlideOS" plans, which Glide describes as a standalone product separate from Glide Classic.
For a shop owner, paying per published app adds up as soon as you want a second tool – say, bookings and a loyalty card.
05Base44: Wix-backed and credit-metered
Base44 is one of the fastest-growing builders: Wix bought it in June 2025 for about $92M including earnouts (Globes), and it reached about $150M ARR by May 2026 (Calcalist). Auth, a database and analytics come built in on every plan (Base44 pricing).
Every prompt draws on message credits: 25 a month on Free, 100 on Starter at $16 a month, 250 on Builder at $40, as of October 2026 (Base44 pricing). GitHub sync starts on Builder.
Base44 makes web apps and PWAs, not native apps; store builds go through wrappers, and features like push notifications need separate setup (Base44 docs).
06Leanfinit vs Glide vs Base44: a year of costs
Here is the listed first paid tier multiplied over twelve months, as of October 2026.
| Leanfinit | Glide Basic | Base44 Starter | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $0 during the beta | $25 | $16 |
| Twelve months | $0 during the beta | $300 | $192 |
| What that buys | No paid plans, no credit card, no watermark | 100 credits, 2 published apps | 100 message credits a month |
Sources: Glide pricing, Base44 pricing. Base44 lists the same per-month figure for annual billing and says annual billing saves 20%; we use the listed price.
For a business with thin margins, $0 versus a few hundred dollars a year is a real decision. Leanfinit's page on a free app maker with no watermark and no monthly fee explains what "free" covers.
Glide charges for publishing and Base44 charges for prompting; Leanfinit charges for neither during the beta.
07Why we'd pick Leanfinit to run a small shop
In our tests, Leanfinit got a shop owner from problem to working app fastest, at no cost during the beta. You don't connect a sheet, budget credits or pay per published app.
Glide makes sense if your business already lives in a spreadsheet and you are happy to pay per app. Base44 is a capable builder, but its credit meter starts on the first prompt. For a closer look, read our Leanfinit vs Glide and Leanfinit vs Base44 reviews, or the walkthrough of a salon booking app.
For small business owners, Leanfinit is our recommendation – describe the job, publish the app, and pay nothing during the beta.
