Next.js vs Flutter: Leanfinit vs v0 for building your app
Next.js vs Flutter, compared through v0 and Leanfinit: what each generates, where the app runs and what it costs. Leanfinit is free during the beta.
Disclosure: OwnlyReal and Leanfinit share founders.
v0 turns prompts into Next.js and React code built to run on Vercel; Leanfinit turns a plain description into a working app built with Flutter. If you are a web developer who wants components to own, v0 fits. If you want the app itself, Leanfinit is the better choice, and it is free during the beta.
v0 generates a Next.js codebase and hands you a hosting platform and a message meter. Leanfinit builds the app with Flutter, publishes it with one button and asks for no servers, databases or payment – it is completely free during the beta.
01Leanfinit vs v0 and the other leaders at a glance
| Tool | What it generates | Where the app runs | Free plan | Entry paid plan (as of October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leanfinit | Flutter apps | Published to the web with one button; nothing to host | Completely free during the beta, no watermark | None during the beta |
| v0 | Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui | Vercel | 7 messages/day; $5 of credits once for new users | Plus $30/user/mo |
| Lovable | TanStack Start (new projects), React + Vite (older) | lovable.app subdomain | 5 daily credits, capped at 30/month | Pro $25/mo |
| Bolt.new | Web apps; React Native via Expo for mobile | bolt.host or Netlify | 300K tokens/day, 1M/month | Pro $25/mo |
| Replit | Full-stack web; React Native + Expo for mobile | Replit publishing | 1 published app, expires after 30 days | Core $20/mo |
| Base44 | Web apps and PWAs | Base44 platform with built-in backend | 25 message credits/mo | Starter $16/mo |

02What v0 generates: Next.js on Vercel
v0's stack is a web developer's stack. Its FAQ says it "uses Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn/ui" (v0 FAQ). The apps are web apps, and v0's own iOS app is a client for prompting rather than a way to build native apps (v0 FAQ).
The output is built to live on Vercel, v0's parent company. SaaStr counts it as a strength that the same company generates the code and runs the hosting, and reports 4M+ users and 9.6M projects created in 2025 (SaaStr). Vercel is also a Platinum founding member of the React Foundation (react.dev).
03What Leanfinit generates: Flutter, published with one button
Leanfinit builds apps with Flutter, so the web version is a compiled Flutter app. Flutter compiles to JavaScript or WebAssembly for the browser and renders with a WebAssembly build of Skia (Flutter architecture). It supports the latest two versions of Chrome, Edge and Firefox, plus Safari 15.6 and later (Flutter supported platforms).
Flutter draws its own widgets instead of using platform ones (Flutter FAQ). In our experience that makes an app look and behave the same in every browser, which matters more to someone using a tracker daily than which CSS framework produced it.
Next.js gives you a web codebase to maintain and deploy. Flutter, through Leanfinit, gives you an app you use straight away.
04Where your app lives: Vercel vs nothing to manage
With v0, a database is your next decision. v0 offers one-click integrations with Upstash, Neon, Supabase and Vercel Blob, plus Snowflake for data apps (v0 databases). Each is another service and account behind your app.
Leanfinit removes that layer: no servers, databases or hosting to set up or pay for. You sign in with Apple or Google, describe the app and press Publish. The Leanfinit mobile app is in development and will generate offline apps that run on your device, with data staying on the phone.
Other React web builders draw a common complaint – credits burned while the AI fixes its own bugs, and small edits that change unrelated parts of the app, according to Lovable's G2 reviews (source).
05Leanfinit vs v0 on price
v0's free plan is a sample; Leanfinit's beta is the whole product. As of October 2026, v0 Free gives 7 messages a day and new users get $5 of credits once (v0 pricing, v0 pricing docs). Plus costs $30 per user a month with $30 of monthly credits and $2 of daily login credits, and Business costs $100 per user a month (v0 pricing).
Unused v0 credits roll over but expire after 65 days, and the legacy $20 Premium plan is closed to new users (v0 pricing docs). Leanfinit has no paid plans during the beta: no credit card and no watermark. Leanfinit's own breakdown of what a personal app costs shows where the real money goes.

06Why we'd pick Leanfinit over v0 for a meal planner
Picture a weekly meal planner with a shopping list. In v0 you get polished Next.js components, then choose a database integration and deploy to Vercel. In Leanfinit you describe the days, the meals and the list that should build itself, then publish – and change it later by describing what to change.
- Free: completely free during the beta, not 7 messages a day.
- No stack decisions: no database, host or framework to pick.
- Still yours: code export is available.
Start small – one sentence about the weekly plan, one about the shopping list. Then add details in follow-up edits instead of writing one long prompt.
If you are a designer comparing visual quality, our Leanfinit vs v0 review goes further, and React web apps vs Flutter covers Lovable.
v0 is a strong code generator for people who already work in Next.js and Vercel. For everyone who just wants the app, Leanfinit is the better choice: built with Flutter, published with one button and completely free during the beta.
FAQ
Is Next.js better than Flutter for web apps?
They solve different problems. v0's Next.js output is a React codebase for developers to deploy; Flutter compiles a whole app to JavaScript or WebAssembly and draws its own UI.
Can v0 build mobile apps?
We found no native mobile output. v0 builds web apps, and its iOS app is a client for prompting.
What does Leanfinit cost compared with v0?
Nothing during the beta, and Leanfinit spells out what its free plan includes. v0 Plus costs $30 per user a month as of October 2026.
Do I need a Vercel or database account for Leanfinit?
No. Leanfinit needs no servers, databases or hosting; you sign in with Apple or Google.
