One codebase, six platforms: Leanfinit's Flutter vs React Native builders
Flutter targets six platforms from one codebase; React Native's core targets two. What that means for Leanfinit vs Bolt.new, Replit and Lovable.
Disclosure: OwnlyReal and Leanfinit share founders.
Flutter officially targets six platforms from one codebase, while React Native's core covers two and relies on partners for the rest. Leanfinit builds with Flutter; Bolt.new and Replit build with React Native. Leanfinit publishes to the web today, its mobile app is in development, and it is completely free during the beta.
Flutter supports iOS, Android, web, Windows, macOS and Linux in its own releases; React Native's core supports iOS and Android. The React Native builders still mostly stop at phones or the web. Leanfinit builds on Flutter, publishes to the web with one button and is free during the beta.
01Leanfinit vs React Native builders: platform reach at a glance
| Tool | Stack | Where its apps run (per its docs) | Free plan | Entry paid plan (as of October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leanfinit | Flutter | Web today, via one Publish button; mobile app in development | Completely free during the beta, no watermark | None during the beta |
| Bolt.new | React Native via Expo; web apps | iOS, Android and web through Expo/EAS | 300K tokens/day, 1M/month | Pro $25/mo |
| Replit | React Native + Expo; web apps | Web; iOS via TestFlight; Google Play not yet supported | 1 published app, expires after 30 days | Core $20/mo |
| Lovable | TanStack Start or React + Vite | Web only | 5 daily credits, capped at 30/month | Pro $25/mo |
| v0 | Next.js, React | Web only | 7 messages/day | Plus $30/user/mo |
| Base44 | Web apps and PWAs | Web; store files via wrappers | 25 message credits/mo | Starter $16/mo |
| Cursor | Whatever you code | Whatever you build | Hobby, limited Agent requests | Pro $20/mo |
| FlutterFlow | Flutter | iOS, Android, web and desktop | 2 projects, no code export | Basic $39/mo |

02Flutter's six official platforms
Six targets have shipped in Flutter's stable releases since 2022. The Flutter 3 announcement in May 2022 listed iOS, Android, web, Windows, macOS and Linux as "six platforms from a single codebase" (Flutter 3). The homepage now adds embedded devices to that list (flutter.dev).
The current minimums are specific. As of Flutter 3.47, they are Android API 24 and up, iOS 15 and up, Windows 10 and 11, macOS 12 Monterey and up, Debian 10–13 and Ubuntu 20.04–24.04 LTS (Flutter supported platforms). On the web, Flutter supports the latest two versions of Chrome, Edge and Firefox plus Safari 15.6 and later.
Because Flutter draws every widget with its own engine, a screen does not change shape from one platform to the next (Flutter FAQ). In our experience, that is what makes "one codebase" hold up in practice.
03React Native: two core platforms, many partners
React Native's own repository targets Android and iOS. Everything else is "out-of-tree": React Native macOS and Windows from Microsoft, visionOS from Callstack, OpenHarmony from a partner, and community projects for tvOS, the web and Skia on Linux and macOS (React Native docs). Official Meta Quest support was announced in February 2026 (React Native blog).
That model works, but each extra platform is a separate project with its own maintainers. React Native for the web, for example, is a community project rather than part of the core (React Native docs).
Flutter's six platforms ship together in Flutter's own releases. React Native's reach beyond phones depends on partner and community projects.
04What the AI builders actually ship to
Most React Native builders stop at phones. Bolt.new builds for the App Store, Google Play and web through Expo's EAS (Bolt.new). Replit publishes iOS through TestFlight and says Google Play is not yet supported, and Anything lists Google Play publishing as beta (Replit, Anything).
The web-first leaders stay in the browser. Lovable "does not generate React Native projects", v0 outputs Next.js, and Base44 wraps web apps for the stores (Lovable FAQ, v0 FAQ, Base44). Google AI Studio generates React for the web or Kotlin for Android – two separate codebases (Google AI Studio).
Reaching more platforms with a metered agent adds up – The Register described one Replit user spending $70 in a single night (source).
05Where Leanfinit fits: web today, phone next
Leanfinit's reach today is the web. Today you describe an app, edit it by describing changes and publish it to the web with one Publish button, so it opens in a browser on a phone or a laptop. The Leanfinit mobile app is in development and will generate offline apps that run on your device, with data staying on the phone.
Leanfinit does not promise desktop or store apps, and neither do we. What it gives you now is a working app with no servers, databases or hosting to set up or pay for, code export, and sign-in with Apple or Google. If you want to start from your phone, Leanfinit explains whether you can build an app on a phone without a computer.
06Why we'd pick Leanfinit for a shop inventory tracker
A small shop uses the same app at the counter and at home. An inventory tracker built on Leanfinit is one published app you open on the counter phone during the day and on a laptop in the evening. On a React Native builder you would get a phone app, then need a separate web project – or Expo's web build – for the laptop.
If your stock list currently lives in a spreadsheet, Leanfinit's page on replacing a clunky spreadsheet on a phone is a good starting point.
Describe the three actions you repeat most – add stock, sell an item, see what is running low – and ask for each to be one tap from the main screen.
For the framework background, see Flutter vs React Native in 2026 and Expo vs Flutter; for an Expo builder head to head, read Leanfinit vs Anything.
Flutter's six official platforms make it the broader foundation, and React Native builders mostly stop at phones or the web. Leanfinit builds on Flutter, runs in modern browsers today and is completely free during the beta – the better choice for an app you want everywhere you are.
