Profound alternatives for enterprise: a market map by job

Profound alternatives for enterprises, mapped by job: AI visibility trackers, SEO suites with AI modules, enterprise platforms, agencies and operating teams.

QUESTIONWhat else besides Profound?
ANSWERDepends on the job
JOBS MAPPEDTrackers to operating teams
In short
  • Profound alternatives fall into five jobs: trackers, SEO suites with AI modules, enterprise SEO platforms, agencies, and operating teams.
  • Pick by the job you need done; most enterprises still need people to turn data into shipped changes.
  • Published prices range from $29 a month to custom enterprise contracts, as of October 2026.

The best Profound alternative for an enterprise depends on which job you need done. If you need cheaper tracking, look at Peec AI, Otterly or Scrunch. If you want AI data inside your SEO suite, look at Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar or SE Ranking. If you need enterprise SEO plus AI search, Conductor or BrightEdge. If you need people to ship the work, an agency or an operating team.

This guide maps each option by job, with published prices as of October 2026, and explains what each category still leaves for your team to do.

01Why are enterprises looking for Profound alternatives?

Profound is the category's best-funded platform. In February 2026 it raised a $96 million Series C at a $1 billion valuation and said it serves more than 10% of the Fortune 500.[1] It now positions itself as an AI marketing platform with agents that, among other things, rewrite pages and stage them in your CMS.[2]

So the search for alternatives is rarely about capability gaps. It usually comes from one of three needs: lower or published pricing, tighter integration with an existing SEO stack, or more human execution capacity. One enterprise reviewer on G2 described the last need precisely: the data is deep, but it is hard to work out "the one, most impactful thing we should do next."[3]

02What are the five jobs in the AI visibility market?

Vendors overlap, but each category starts from a different core job. Knowing which job you are buying for prevents comparing a $29 tracker with an enterprise platform.

011. AI visibility trackersRun prompts across answer engines and report mentions, citations and sentiment. Fast to start, self-serve.
022. SEO suites with AI modulesAdd AI visibility data to an SEO tool your team already uses for keywords, backlinks and audits.
033. Enterprise SEO and AEO platformsLarge-site platforms combining search, AI visibility, content and site monitoring with enterprise controls.
044. AgenciesStrategy, content, digital PR and technical work delivered as a service, usually on top of the tools above.
055. Operating teamsEmbedded partners that run the program continuously inside your CMS, ticketing and approvals.

03Which AI visibility trackers compete with Profound?

Trackers are the closest like-for-like alternatives. They differ mostly in engines covered, prompt allowances and price transparency.

Published entry priceNotes
ProfoundFree trial; Enterprise custom [4]Enterprise plan lists up to 9 answer engines, agents, API, SSO
AthenaHQFree tier; Starter $295/mo [5]Starter covers 11 AI models; Enterprise adds SSO and audit logs
Peec AIStarter €89/mo, Pro €199/mo [6]Third-party listing; Peec's own page lists Starter, Pro, Advanced, Enterprise
ScrunchStarter $250/mo annual, $300 monthly [7]Growth $417/mo annual; Enterprise adds data API and SSO
Otterly.AILite $29/mo [8]Standard $189, Premium $489; 4 engines tracked

Prices change often and plan contents differ, so compare prompts, engines, markets and seats, not only the headline number. A 25-prompt plan and a 350-prompt plan are not the same product, and a plan that covers one country will understate visibility for a multi-market brand.

Also check the enterprise basics early: SSO, audit logs, API access and data exports. Procurement and security teams often ask for these, and several vendors reserve them for custom-priced tiers.

04Which SEO suites now include AI visibility?

If your SEO team already works in one of these suites, adding AI data there may beat buying a separate tracker. The trade-off is usually depth of AI-specific workflow versus one shared dataset.

Semrush sells an AI Visibility Toolkit at $99 per month, with 25 tracked prompts and AI search checks in Site Audit.[9] Ahrefs Brand Radar covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, with custom prompts from $50 per month and an AI Visibility Index tier at $199 per month.[10] SE Ranking offers an AI Search add-on at $89 per month, or $71.20 billed annually, covering AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and ChatGPT.[11]

05Which enterprise platforms compete at the top end?

Large organizations with many sites often already license an enterprise SEO platform. Two of the biggest have moved firmly into AI search.

Conductor now describes itself as an enterprise AEO platform and tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude and Perplexity alongside classic search; its pricing page lists Essentials, Growth and Enterprise tiers without public prices.[12] BrightEdge includes AI Catalyst in all SEO platform subscriptions, monitoring presence and sentiment in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity.[13]

06Which agencies offer GEO for enterprises?

Agencies are an alternative to Profound only in the sense that they replace the need for your team to act on the data. Most use one or more of the tools above. Each firm below describes GEO, AEO or AI search as a core service on its own site, as of October 2026.

AgencyHow it describes its AI search work
iPullRankAI search and "relevance engineering" programs[14]
First Page SageAn "SEO + GEO agency"[15]
Siege MediaA "full-service GEO agency"[16]
Go Fish DigitalGEO and full-service digital marketing[17]
AnimalzSEO and AEO strategy programs[18]
GraphiteAEO and SEO engines for growth companies[19]

Inclusion here is not an endorsement. Before shortlisting, apply the checks in how to choose a GEO agency, including how to read self-published rankings.

07What does each category still leave for your team to do?

Every option on this map does part of the job. The useful question is which part stays with you, because that is where programs usually stall.

Trackers and SEO-suite modules give you measurement. Your team still writes the prompt set, interprets the variance, traces wrong answers to sources, drafts fixes, gets them approved, publishes them and works on third-party sites. That is a lot of weekly work for teams that bought a tool to save time.

Enterprise platforms add content and workflow features, and Profound's agents can draft and stage content. Even so, a person still decides what is worth changing, signs off on claims, and earns coverage on review sites, in the press and in communities that no platform controls.

Agencies take over much of the drafting and outreach. What often remains is the publishing step: if the agency cannot work inside your CMS and approval chain, drafts queue up on your side. Ask every agency how many of its recommendations actually went live for a comparable client.

Illustrative example

Illustrative example: same budget, different outcome. Two companies spend similar amounts. One buys a top-tier tracker and assigns it to an already busy SEO manager; the dashboard improves its coverage but few changes ship. The other buys a cheaper tracker plus outside execution capacity; fewer charts, more fixes live. Neither choice is right in general; it depends on who acts on the data.

08Do enterprises need more than one of these?

Often, yes. A common pattern is an enterprise SEO platform the web team already licenses, a dedicated AI tracker for multi-engine prompt data, and a service partner for execution. The risk is three sets of numbers that disagree. Pick one measurement source as the system of record for board reporting, and treat the others as diagnostic.

09What does an operating team do that the others don't?

An operating team sits between a tool and an agency. It uses the best available measurement tools, then takes responsibility for shipping changes through your own systems: CMS updates, ticketed fixes, review and directory profiles, PR briefs, each approved by your brand, legal and regional reviewers.

OwnlyReal works this way: tool-agnostic, measuring share of answer across search, answer engines, app stores and marketplaces, then fixing and operating continuously. Its homepage summarizes it as "an operating team inside your marketing" (see how it works).

↑ Footprint (markets × languages × products) →
Operating team or agencyWide footprint, little capacity. Buy execution, keep approvals in-house.
Enterprise platform + specialistsStrong team, many markets. A platform plus targeted outside help.
Tracker plus an auditSmall footprint, little capacity. Start cheap and scope the problem.
Tracker or SEO suite moduleSmall footprint, capable team. Self-serve tools are enough.
Internal capacity to act on data →

10How should you choose between them?

Start with the job, not the vendor. Write down the prompts, engines, markets and languages you need covered, and who in your team will act on findings each week. If no one has that time, a cheaper tool will not help.

Questions to settle before comparing vendors
Which engines and markets must be measured, and in which languages?
How many prompts do we need per market to represent real buyer questions?
Who will turn findings into changes each week, and through which approvals?
Do we need SSO, audit logs and API access for procurement and security?
Should AI data live in our existing SEO suite, or in a dedicated tool?
Who owns the off-site work: reviews, press, directories, communities?

Questions people also ask

What are the best Profound alternatives for enterprises?

It depends on the job. For tracking: AthenaHQ, Peec AI, Scrunch or Otterly. Inside an SEO suite: Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar or SE Ranking. Enterprise platforms: Conductor or BrightEdge. For execution: a GEO agency or an operating team.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Profound?

Several trackers publish lower prices, such as Otterly from $29 a month and Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit at $99 a month, as of October 2026. Compare engines, prompts and markets covered, not just price.

Does Profound replace an agency?

Not fully. Profound's agents can draft and stage content, but approvals, off-site authority and judgment about priorities still need people, in-house or outsourced.

Should I use my SEO suite's AI module instead of a separate tool?

If your team already lives in Semrush, Ahrefs or SE Ranking and your footprint is modest, the module may be enough. Large multi-market programs often need dedicated depth.

What is an AI visibility operating team?

An external team that uses measurement tools and runs the work continuously inside your CMS, ticketing and approval chains, rather than delivering reports for your team to implement.
